Czar Podhala oraz słodko-gorzki smak romantycznych konfliktów – historia Halki znana jest Polakom od pokoleń, a miłośnicy mitologii greckiej mogą dostrzegać w głównej bohaterce podobieństwa do Ariadny i Safony, z którymi dzieliła podobny tragiczny los kobiet nieszczęśliwie zakochanych.
Grażyna Szapołowska ze znaną sobie empatią wzięła na warsztat zawiłe relacje między postaciami opery Moniuszki, by – niczym po nici Ariadny – dotrzeć do źródeł ich charakterów i życiowych decyzji.
Staram się zrozumieć bohaterów i nie zakładać z góry ich złych intencji, przyjmuję, że są niewinni. Ale zło ma swoje źródła i trudno znaleźć odpowiedź na pytanie, co siedzi w głowach największych zbrodniarzy, że chcą mordować, siać śmierć? A historia wciąż zatacza koła, schematy dobra i zła powracają, tylko że w innych dekoracjach i kontekstach… – mówi reżyserka.
Nasza wersja jest tą najpopularniejszą, czteroaktową, której premiera miała miejsce w 1858 roku w Warszawie, dziesięć lat po premierze wileńskiej.

Halka, a performance directed by Grażyna Szapołowska, an icon of Polish cinema and theatre, has returned to the stage of our opera. We encourage you to spend the Sunday evening of the 28th of March with your loved ones at the Wrocław Opera House. Special tickets priced at 30 zł. are waiting for you at the ticket office.

The magic of Podhale and the bittersweet taste of romantic conflicts – the story of Halka has been known to Poles for generations, and lovers of Greek mythology may see in the main character similarities to Ariadne and Safona, with whom she shared a similar tragic fate of women unhappily in love.
With her well-known empathy, Grażyna Szapołowska is dealing with the intricate relationships between the characters of Moniuszko’s opera in order to Ariadne’s thread, the source of their characters and life decisions.
I try to understand the protagonists and not assume in advance their evil intentions, I assume they are innocent. But evil has its sources and it is difficult to find an answer to the question: what is in the heads of the greatest criminals that makes them want to murder and sow death? And history keeps turning in circles, the patterns of good and evil return, only in different settings and contexts…” says the director.
Our version is the most popular, the four-act version, which premiered in 1858 in Warsaw, ten years after the Vilnius premiere.
